Now What Do You Do?

So now after Hurricane Irma has passed through and the damage is done, what do you do when the power is out? Well…

Not being one to just sit around – having power out is hard. Technology only lasts so long. Plus – cell towers may not be working well. The Internet is hit and miss due to the cell towers. I am just glad I can make calls and text to check on the rest of the family. In all honesty, it is nice to not have power for a day. A family becomes closer. We are more likely to sit and talk or do other things together.

Adult coloring books. These are cool. Some of them, I prefer to use colored pencils and others I prefer to use markers. I also discovered Amazing Dot-to-Dot books. I love the challenges those types of books present.

Of course, you can always curl up with a good book. I will also read from my Nook as long as my battery power lasts. I might even pull out my old favorites from my stash of paperbacks.

But what about the rest of the family and friends who are staying with you? My response… Board games and card games. We can play Uno! for hours!! Monopoly, Checkers, and any variety of other games can help take away the boredom.

Once the danger is past, we can go out and walk around. Thankfully, we did not suffer damage to our house, but waiting for the power to come back on can be hard. (You would be amazed at the cheering you heard from the neighbors when the power was back on.

Damage to the house was minimal to none, and the power was only off a little less than 24 hours. Having to wait for the power was not fun, but at least we could create our own!
