What is a challenge? In this case, it is something that by its nature or character serves as a call to battle, contest, or special effort (according to www.dictionary.com).
We have many challenges in life. Some will be fun and happy challenges; other will be difficult. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but the temptation will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it.”
We all love the fun challenges. I know I do! A few years ago, when I was losing weight and looking for a challenge, I chose to do a couple mud runs. It is fun to overcome obstacles bigger than you are.
I, definitely, enjoy physical challenges, whether it is working out and getting stronger, or overcoming obstacles. However, I also enjoy mental challenges such as learning something new or solving puzzles. These are not the challenges I worry about, those I thank God for the abilities to do.
The challenges that are difficult are the ones I need to depend on God to help me through. As I write about these challenges I know 1 Corinthians 10:13 is true, but I wonder how much more I can bear.
When work challenges get tough I know God is teaching me something. I need to remember my faith. I need to remember that God knows more than I and He is in charge, therefore I can handle this.
When money gets tight, I remember I do have a job, God does care. If he cares when 2 sparrows fall, then I know he cares about me.
No matter the challenges in life, whether physical, mental, or spiritual I will endure. I will take them on. I will try to meet them with my head high and know God is with me – 1 Corinthians 10:13.
